Coming soon! Popsci reports that a multitouch skin that can make any surface a touchscreen will be released this summer.

Portuguese company Displax will “market a multitouch capable, super-thin polymer “skin” that can be applied to any material — flat, curved, opaque, transparent, you name it — creating a digital muli-touch surface virtually anywhere, from a wristband to a desktop to a pane of clear glass.”

Very cool. Displax says that the skin will be able to detect even the subtlest of touches – even blowing on it. A futuristic, sci-fi existence is creeping closer, becoming more and more of a reality.

We have seen so many tutorials on the web which uses the 3D text for creating awesome typographic images. Well, those 3D text are usually created using a 3D program like 3DSMax, Xara 3D, Cinema 4D and so on.

But, what if you don’t have such high profile 3D tools. Especially, if you are not a hard core CG Artist, you wouldn’t be needing these stuff. If your aim is to create simple 3dText, you can easily achieve it in Photoshop itself.

In this tutorial, we will learn exactly how to achieve such a 3D effect. We will also be experimenting with the reflection which is very important and gives the 3D text an added realism. You can actually use this simple technique to create trendy realistic logos and icons. Lets get started!

Great banner ad campaign from Apple for the new “nano shoots video” banner ad campaign. Works well with their brand, the banner had everything you would expect it to have and told you exactly what they wanted to tell you in a fun engaging way – who can ask for more.

I was on CNN.com earlier today and fell upon this great team up of video and an associated banner ad… its not a new and ground breaking way to advertise but I wanted to point out how I enjoyed this experience and how these 2 mediums complemented each other. Neither was too over-bearing but both called out for some individual attention. The timing was great for both because I had enough time to enjoy each medium and what they had to offer. The banner ad ended with a nice CTA that matched the entire branding for Invictus. Great work.

This banner by Cisco was focused on the whole “video” aspect that Cisco can bring to an organization. I didn’t get that at all with the banner ad that they just sent out. They should really take a lesson from their competition and see what and how they can improve on their future banner ad campaigns. Simplicity is great and that’s what I like about their branding, but their technologies are far more superb and I think that should be translated better on their campaigns.

This was a nice little banner ad that HP sent out about the HP Touchsmart 600 Computer. The colors were very engaging and the interactivity was great. The finger on the initial page could have been animated differently though and unless you are like me and wanted to spend some time to poke around, it was really hard to know what clips were available for activation on the initial screen… subtle rollover bubbles would have been helpful – I still don’t know if I saw everything this ad had to offer. Great banner ad all-in-all.

I just saw this banner as I was surfing around the web and was just taken back to see how rich this banner was. Probably killed the bandwidth, but a great banner ad that certainly caught my attention.
